Flowering – Making Dom Perignon

The flowering is in progress and going well for the time being. Some early terroirs have flowered last week (around June 16-18), for example the Chardonnays near Avize and Le Mesnil, whereas others are flowering as I’m writing, mostly the Pinot Noirs. In any case the rather cold weather in the region (especially in the mornings) didn’t affect the process. I would also like to point out the currently perfect sanitary conditions for the grapes, especially the fact that there’s not one hint of mildew in the vineyards—we are of course remaining vigilant. A picture is worth a thousand words: I am sure you will enjoy this gallery of pictures taken Wednesday morning!

The Fairmont Nile City just launched a new Champagne Bar

The Fairmont Nile City has a new Champagne Bar with a fabulous little trio, led by singer Princess Soi-Soi, and a list of killer cocktails.

Whether it’s pre-drinks for Tamarai (a bar at the Nile City Towers) or an after work gossip session, Fairmont’s new Champagne Bar is the venue for extravagance. What better way to network than over a tall glass of bubbly love and a cheesy pretzel snack.

If the bar’s opening last night is any indication, there really is no better way. A gathering of PR and entertainment folk with a penchant for a good party, the Champagne Bar inauguration was lacking only in seating.

Reactions were positive – with the venue coming into itself as a casual chat spot for stiletto sporting execs.

As an expert eavesdropper, reported comments included, “the service is impeccable,” “the pianist is great,” and “the champagne is delicious…. what is this?” On the other hand, there seemed to be a general feeling that the Champagne Bar is small – meaning it will never be a ‘hang out’ – if it was ever meant to be.

The Fairmont staff has really gone out of its way for the life of the lobby side spot and with all the positive feedback, maybe they will consider picking a bigger area of the hotel to magnify their efforts for a larger and more permanent crowd.

Searcy’s is Europe’s Longest Champagne Bar

Situated within one of our most favoured English Heritage sites at St Pancras Station, you can find champagne lovers paradise. Searcy’s Champagne bar boasts the largest selection of Grand Marque houses available in the UK, twenty of which can be enjoyed by the glass.

I never thought I would be writing about, essentially, a bar at a train station for Lussorian – but Searcys offers much more than that.

Starting with the surrounding stunning architecture of the Barlow shed, to Europe’s longest champagne bar The place is very special. At over 90 meters long, no other bar comes close. The breathtaking, panoramic view of the entire terminal is on show from each seat at The Champagne Bar. Recharge while you watch the world scurry past.

Seating for 110, choose from 12 leather clad banquettes – which happily seat six (with individual fan heaters below the seats, which are also heated) to additional seating on small tables and bar stools.

Whilst not a restaurant, The Champagne bar does serve up some fine food, with the emphasis being on complimenting the Champagne. Open sandwiches and Champagne breakfasts fit the bill perfectly.

A stones throw from the Eurostar terminal, this is an ideal spot to meet for business or pleasure. The Champagne Sommeliers’ knowledge is extensive and shared willingly, so you could argue there is some education to be had!

If you are setting off from Kings Cross soon, do not forget to go out in style. You just cannot get any better than this.
